Complementary Programs
If you have an interest in the outdoors, teaching, or developing leadership experience, the outdoor recreation minor is for you. Whether you want to lead others in a front country, challenge course, or into the back country, this minor will give you the leadership, technical, and facilitation skills you need.
You can pair this minor with any of a variety of majors - from health and physical education to business administration.
What Will I Study?
The minor includes classroom-based courses on philosophy and leadership ethics with field-based courses on canoeing and kayaking, backpacking, rock climbing, challenge courses, scuba diving and other outdoor sports.

The outdoor recreation minor can help you prepare for a career with outdoor organizations like:

- National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS)
