Before joining the nursing program at University of Lynchburg, Dr. Johnson served as the didactic director for the College’s Physician Assistant Medicine program. She is the founding dean of the Centra College of Nursing in Lynchburg. She brings experience with both initial institutional accreditation and nursing program accreditation. She has developed curricula for nursing programs as well as overall program assessment and evaluations. Dr. Johnson has more than seventeen years of experience in teaching medical-surgical nursing.
She received her diploma in nursing from the Lynchburg General Hospital School of Nursing, bachelor of science degree in nursing at University of Lynchburg, master of science degree in nursing from the University of Virginia, and her doctorate of education degree, with an emphasis in higher education and leadership, from Walden University. Her current research efforts involve U.S. nursing students’ perceptions of safe medication administration.
