Associate Professor of Music
I am happy to be a part of the vibrant University of Lynchburg community. As an Associate Professor in the Music Department, I enjoy teaching world music, music in elementary and special education, mentoring string players in the orchestra, serving as an advisor to undergraduate students, and encouraging service-learning opportunities in music. I find joy in teaching and learning about healthy habits for musicians and encourage the journey for well-being. My background includes private violin studio teaching experience and elementary and secondary instrumental music classroom teaching in the New York City Public Schools. I enjoy an eclectic mix of music from around the world and I hope to travel to the places that inspire me with my twins and husband, Dr. Adam W. Dean.
I have presented research at numerous local, national, and international conferences. My current research interests include stringed instrument teaching and learning, music for lifelong learners, and music program design for service-learning and community music practitioners. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the wonderful music making opportunities at University of Lynchburg.
