Adjunct Instructor of Bassoon
Rebecca Meisel serves as the adjunct bassoon instructor at University of Lynchburg. She also teaches simultaneously at both Virginia Tech and Radford University, and during the summer residential Governor’s School for Humanities and Visual and Performing Arts at Radford.
In addition to her positions at the university level, Rebecca operates a thriving music school, Blue Mountain Music Studio, located in Roanoke, Virginia. She provides private instruction in piano, flute and bassoon to students of all ages. Among other events, the studio hosts two themed recitals each year.
She performs with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra as a substitute bassoonist, and is a member of the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra. She frequently joins various other ensembles around the area for special performance events. The local Celtic band, Second Wynde, has her featured as their flute player.
Rebecca began her study of the bassoon with Anthony DeAngelis, of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. She later went on to study with renowned Eastman professor emeritus K. David Van Hoesen. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in bassoon performance from the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, NY, under the direction of John Hunt.
