Established in 1992, this fund honors the contributions of John M. Turner Jr., Class of 1929, to his alma mater.
Dr. Turner served University of Lynchburg forty-one years as a professor of English, dean of the College, and vice president for academic affairs from 1933 to 1974.
The funding for the chair was provided by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and matched 3:1 by alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the College. Income from this fund supports an endowed professorship in the Humanities.
