Adjunct Faculty in the Doctor of Medical Science Program
Dr. Preston L. Williams, DMSc, PA-C is highly personable, competent, and a team-spirited expert with a distinct generalist approach to practicing a spectrum of medicine. Dr. Williams is double-board certified in general medicine and pediatrics with a robust scope of medical service in the areas of family and emergency medicine, urgent care, orthopaedic spine trauma surgery, professional sports medicine, and multiple sub-specialties spanning 9 separate states from level 1 trauma center research and teaching institutions to outpatient care settings, the VA, Indian Health Service, FQHC, and private practice. Additionally, from 2011 through 2014 he served in the U.S. Army as a Direct Commission Medical Officer in the Cavalry providing extensive trauma, clinical, and training leadership for a gamut of missions and earning distinguished ribbons and a medal of achievement. He excels in a challenging clinical setting as a clinician and proceduralist, putting patients at ease and establishing subtle and often difficult-to-make diagnoses.
Dr. Williams is an accomplished healthcare leader, professor, medical writer, board member, consultant, and patient advocate known for cultivating meaningful relations with physicians, nurses, allied health, staff, and administration. In 2021, he facilitated a global health interactive lecture on “Exploring and Understanding COVID-19” for over 2500 participants in the Philippines. During his career, Dr. Williams published papers in the areas of repetitive-use injury, chronic disease treatment, communicable disease outbreaks, healthcare administration management, medical economics, healthcare policy, professional parity for healthcare providers, and medical jurisprudence. Presently he serves on the editorial board for Medicon Medical Sciences Journal and is a former two-term Alumni Association Board member at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is the active CEO and business owner of an expanding and vital healthcare solutions company, Williams Promote Wellness. Finally, Dr. Williams is a committed professor who created the Healthcare Business & Informatics course at the University of Lynchburg to advance the PA profession within the administrative medicine track.
