Adjunct Faculty in the Doctor of Medical Science Program
Dr. Aviva G. Asnis-Alibozek has over 20 years of clinical practice, clinical research, medical education, medical affairs and product commercialization experience. She is currently an independent clinical development and medical affairs consultant partnering with agency, industry, academic and community oncology professionals to advance the care of patients with cancer and inflammatory diseases. Approximately 20% of her time is allocated to supporting the medical communications company, Interactive Forums, Inc., where she acts as Senior Medical Director, providing medical meeting moderation and clinical content oversight to diverse advisory board and KOL development projects. The remaining 80% is devoted to consulting with a diverse client portfolio on clinical development and/or strategic medical affairs projects. Prior to consulting, Aviva most recently served as the Executive Vice President of Global Medical Affairs at TRM Oncology, a division of Aptitude Health, through October of 2018. She joined the organization in 2012 and was accountable for ongoing delivery of the company’s medical and scientific strategy executed by the clinical content, publications and business development teams. She led a team of 25+ oncology physician and scientist medical communications experts.
By training, Aviva is a board-certified physician assistant, graduate of the Yale University School of Medicine (1998), who began her career practicing clinically in urology and urologic oncology. She then transitioned her attention to cancer clinical research working first as a medical science liaison for Schering-Plough Oncology Biotech, followed by two years with Pharmacia Corporation, serving as a Clinical Program Manager and then Associate Medical Director responsible for the breast cancer portfolio. More recently, Aviva spent four years with AstraZeneca as Director of Medical Affairs within the company’s oncology division, supporting the sNDA submission and launch of Arimidex and Faslodex secondary indications, as well as Emerging Oncology research, development and scientific communications. She then spent four years as Executive Scientific Director for the cross-oncology independent medical education company, Research to Practice, where she worked hand in hand with her medical and business development colleagues to systematically identify, validate and creatively address cancer clinician learning needs spanning the care of multiple solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. Prior to joining Aptitude Health, Aviva held a senior position with IBA Molecular as Vice President of Medical Affairs, leading initiatives in cancer-targeted molecular imaging and nuclear medicine research, health economics and outcomes, medical information, scientific and medical communications, and clinical education.
In 2003 Aviva obtained a specialized Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree in Oncology, and in 2007 she was appointed a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and awarded the DFAAPA credential in recognition of her diverse contributions to healthcare and the PA profession. Dr. Asnis-Alibozek earned her Doctor of Medical Science degree (DMSc) in the advanced professional practice of Administrative Medicine from University of Lynchburg in January 2021.
She is an active participant of original research and the author of several peer-reviewed journal publications and abstracts, is a Certified Medical Publications Professional (CMPP) and invited ISMPP panel reviewer for the GPP3 Guidelines, is an invited manuscript peer-reviewer for the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Journal of Oncology Practice, the American Journal of Managed Care and the American Journal of Pharmacy Benefits, and is a member of numerous professional medical societies. In 2017, Aviva was appointed Clinical Adjunct Assistant Professor at Quinnipiac University School of Health Sciences, in recognition of her educational efforts and contribution to the school. In 2021, she accepted a position as adjunct professor with the University of Lynchburg DMSc program.
Aviva is married and lives in Connecticut with her husband, Scott, their thirteen-year-old son, Blake, and black lab, PJ.
