Professor McVay joined the Physician Assistant Medicine Faculty part-time in June 2017. She is an NCCPA certified Physician Assistant, member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, American College of Cardiology, Heart Rhythm Society and Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants where she serves as coordinator of the Lynchburg Region.
Professor McVay obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. She is currently working on her Doctor of Medical Science degree.
Professor McVay continues to practice full time at Stroobants Cardiovascular Center splitting her time between general cardiology and cardiac rhythm and device management. There she serves as the Director of Clinical Practice Improvement, Advance Practice Provider chair to the Medical Executive Committee, cardiology chair to the Centra Medical Group Advance Practice Provider committee and President of the Lynchburg General Hospital Advance Practice Provider committee. She also routinely precepts University of Lynchburg PA students and is responsible for the development of the cardiology clinical curriculum.
Professor McVay has been recognized by the American Academy of Physician Assistants for her work precepting PA students with the CPAAPA designation. Professor McVay has a special interest in PA leadership and advocacy.
