What sparked your interest in physical therapy?
Honestly, I didn’t realize I wanted to become a physical therapist until about a year before starting at LCDPT. I’ve always known I wanted to have a career in the health professions because of my love for science and passion for helping people. I thought I knew what I wanted after shadowing a few different professions, but when it came time to prepare for applications and study for entrance exams, I found I lacked the motivation. I realized I needed to find a profession that would fuel my passion and allow me to experience the happiness I feel when helping others. I found the spark I was looking for when I had the opportunity to shadow a pediatric physical therapist. Knowing I could help put a smile on the faces of children and their families, every day was perfect.
What’s the most exciting part of the DPT program?
This question is always a difficult one to answer. As a graduate assistant, I give tours frequently, and every time I do, I can never do this question justice. It amazes me how involved our faculty is, how above and beyond they go to help us. I enjoy how much space we have here. All the amenities and new technology we have access to makes studying fun and easy (as much as possible at least). The other most exciting part of our program is how close knit and familial we are. Our class started off with a really big sense of family thanks to our faculty. While we have grown as individuals throughout our time here, we still enjoy doing things together in our down time. It’s a comforting feeling to know even though I’m so far from home, I’ll always have people who have grown to become like family here.
What do you hope to do with your degree?
I hope to specialize in pediatrics so I can provide a better quality of life for children and their families. I want to help kids be kids.
What are some of your hobbies?
I enjoy hanging out with my friends, reading books (yes, for fun), and watching movies.
