Medical Facilities of America is dedicated to our students’ success and wants to highlight students for their efforts! MFA has selected Maddy Schricker as the Student of the Month for July.
Name: Maddy Schricker
Hometown: Janesville, Wisconsin
Undergraduate degree and school: BA in English, Boston College
What her professors are saying about her:
“As a professor, one of the great joys is teaching a student who is eager and excited to learn. The DPT Class of 2017 is filled with many such students, but Maddy stands out in her enthusiastic and positive attitude. It is clear from her ever-present smile that Maddy enjoys learning and is thrilled to be a student physical therapist. Maddy listens intently in class, actively analyzes what she hears, asks thought-provoking questions, and greets new information with a distinctive “Cool!” or “Neat!” Maddy’s maturity, confidence, and willingness to share her knowledge have quickly distinguished her to the faculty, but more importantly these same qualities have made her a leader among her peers. Maddy is an exemplary student, a perfect example of the type of student we have at University of Lynchburg. I look forward to teaching Maddy the rest of the year and watching her continue to grow as a student physical therapist!” – Dr. Price Blair, Assistant Professor
What sparked your interest in physical therapy?
I’ve been an athlete my whole life, where is no doubt where my appreciation for anatomy is rooted. I’ve always been fascinated by how we move and the body’s ability to repair. I wanted to enter a profession where I could help people improve their quality of life, and physical therapy lends itself perfectly to that.
What’s the most exciting part of the DPT program?
The most exciting part of the program so far is definitely the cadaver lab. I love working with my group to find the structures we learn about in class. I like putting all of the pieces together and making sense of the body’s intricate systems.
What do you hope to do with your degree?
Right now I am learning towards pediatrics, but I am open to working with any patient population. I’m just excited to become a PT!
What are some of your hobbies?
I love to run, read, write, and play the ukulele.
What is your favorite quote?
“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.”
– Rainer Maria Rilke
