Name: Alexa Collins
Hometown: Fredericksburg, Virginia
Undergraduate degree and school: Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Campbell University
What sparked your interest in physical therapy?
Growing up, I always wanted to work in the medical field but I was not sure which area. In high school, I injured my shoulder and had to have PT. After my experience with PT, I grew interested and passionate about the field.
What’s the most exciting part of the DPT program?
The most exciting part of the program is the opportunity to have four clinical internships, 40-weeks, with different areas of PT. I am excited about being able to gain clinical experience from clinics all over the country and to apply skills learned in class.
What do you hope to do with your degree?
I am not 100% sure which area of PT I hope to work in but hopefully I will figure this out soon. My main interests are either neurological or orthopedic rehabilitation. Eventually, I hope to receive a specialty in an area I am passionate about.
What are some of your hobbies?
Spending time with my friends and family, working out, and relaxing (when I have free time!)
What is your favorite quote?
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'”
– Jeremiah 29:11
