Returning from a Medical Leave of Absence

To return to the University, you will need to submit a Return from Medical Leave form. Please contact Andrew Devening at devening_a@lynchburg.edu for a copy of the form. Once you have submitted the completed form with a doctor’s signature, you may then follow steps two through seven.

All Other Returning Students

Notify the Advising and Academic Resource Center if you are returning from your leave of absence by Dec. 15 if you plan to return in the Spring semester or by July 1st if you plan to return in the Fall semester.

Contact the Solutions Center to submit your enrollment deposit for the semester you wish to return if you have not already done so, and to set up any billing and payment information. For questions contact the Solutions Center at solutionscenter@lynchburg.edu.

Complete any necessary financial aid paperwork, including your FAFSA. If you have questions in regards to financial aid, contact the Solutions Center at solutionscenter@lynchburg.edu.

If you took classes at another institution while you were on your leave of absence, you need to submit those final transcripts to the registrar’s office. Once they receive them, they will conduct a credit evaluation of your transcripts. For questions contact the registrar’s office at registrar@lynchburg.edu.

You should contact your advisor to discuss your class schedule.

Before you meet with your advisor:

• If you have a transfer credit evaluation, review it and have it with you. You should receive this from the registrar’s office.
• Become familiar with the academic catalog and the course requirements for the major(s) in which you are interested.
• Come prepared with any questions you may have regarding your major, career interests, and internships.

In addition to helping you plan your schedule, your advisor can:

• Help you create a long-term plan for graduation
• Tell you about major-specific clubs, organizations, and other opportunities
• Advise you about opportunities for internships, research, or study abroad programs
• Help you explore post-graduate education and career opportunities

If you will be living on campus, request a housing assignment as described below. Remember that placements are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please call the Office of Housing and Residence Life at 434.544.8320 to discuss your housing as soon as possible!

All returning students must check in to the University before they attend classes. This is where you will get your student ID, obtain your parking pass, get the keys to your room if you are living on campus, and take care of all other campus business. (If you need a parking pass, please bring your driver’s license, proof of insurance, and car registration with you when you come to check-in!)
