Lynchburg College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a part time Campus Safety Dispatch Information Officer. The position requires selected persons to perform a broad range of services for those who need Campus Safety services at Lynchburg College. This position is the primary communication link for the majority of Campus Safety calls for service and assistance via the telephone, radio, or walk-in customers.
The IO Dispatcher is the lifeline for patrol personnel, researching information, making necessary notifications to appropriate staff campus-wide during and after regular business hours; communicating with outside emergency response personnel (police, fire and paramedics) when needed; initiating and maintaining a Daily Log that documents all calls for service and shift activity; inputting/retrieving data, reports and other required information; monitoring and dispatching officers to numerous alarms, and activity observed on video surveillance system and a host of other duties.
Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license. Also, must be computer literate, must have basic computer skills and possess knowledge of operating systems. Minimum 3 years of related experience (telephone, clerical, customer service). Experience in a public safety dispatch or communications center is highly desirable. The selected candidate must successfully pass a fingerprint based background check before employment can begin.
