The Department of Communication Studies at University of Lynchburg invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Journalism, Media, Communications or related field. We seek an individual trained in new media and capable of teaching journalistic reporting/writing across print, broadcast, and social media. The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 course load with the possibility of a one course release per semester to advise the University’s student run newspaper (print and online). The candidate will also advise majors and engage in scholarship, leadership, and service within the department, school, and University.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the area of Multi-media Journalism and Communication Studies including Media Writing, Convergence Media, Production & Editing Across Media, Advanced Reporting & Writing, general education courses, and innovative approaches to communication education in a global environment.
A doctorate in Journalism, Media, Communications or a related field is required and candidate must possess a record of teaching, scholarship and service commensurate with the appointment. The selected candidate must complete a background check that is satisfactory to the University.
