Introducing TimeClock Plus (TCP)
We’re excited to introduce our new university-wide time keeping and attendance system which will replace our current manual time entry attendance process. Our new user-friendly system is TimeClock Plus (TCP); it will be used by all faculty, staff, and student workers. The change is intended to streamline our HR and payroll processes for all employees, including supervisors.
Our time keeping and attendance system needs to be upgraded to allow for greater operational accuracy and efficiency. TCP is a software that serves our purposes “out of the box” and requires minimal custom configuration. It has an intuitive interface for both end-users and managers, along with clean reporting tools. TCP is also a Campus Management partner, which will ensure proper integration with CampusNexus Finance, HR and Payroll.
What Can We Expect as Student Workers?
Clocking In & Out
If you clock in using a physical time clock, you’ll continue to do so using new TCP clocks (same locations).
If you enter your time on the timesheet located on the My LC Portal, you’ll instead be clocking in and out using either a web browser (via the TCP WebClock) or using your smartphone (via the TCP MobileClock app). Know that using the TCP MobileClock app will be up to your department’s leadership.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we transition to this exciting new process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is TimeClock Plus?
A. It is an automated time and attendance system that will integrate first with POISE and later CampusNexus Finance, HR & Payroll.
Q. Why do we have to move to TimeClock Plus?
A. There are multiple reasons for the switch:
- Comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA) which, among other items, requires that paying non-exempt (bi-weekly) employees for all hours actually worked
- Ensuring hours are complete, accurate and current for payroll processing. Incomplete time cards, delay the payroll process
- Improved payroll processing by centralizing the process into one system (our payroll coordinator currently trackers and reconciles data from 3 systems)
- TCP is a software that serves our purposes “out of the box” and requires minimal custom configuration. It has an intuitive interface for both end-users and managers
- TCP will give our HR/Payroll team reporting tools which are currently non-existent for their operations
- TCP is also a Campus Management partner, which will ensure proper integration with CampusNexus Finance, HR and Payroll
Q. Who will use TimeClock Plus?
A. All faculty, staff and student workers.
Q. When will I clock in/out?
A. All hourly employees will have four punches in day.
- Clock in (to start a work day)
- Clock out for Lunch
- Clock in from lunch
- Clock out (to end a work day)
Student employees do not have access to Leaving for Lunch and Returning from Lunch.
Q. Where will I clock in/out?
A. See scenarios below
- Hourly employees using a physical clock will continue to do so using new TCP clock.
- Hourly employees submitting timesheets via My LC Portal will instead clock in and out using the TCP WebClock or TCP MobileClock (equipped with IP restrictions).
Q. Do I need to be connected to the University’s wifi to clock in/out using the WebClock (TCP web browser clock)?
A. Yes.
Q. Do I need to be connected to the University’s wifi to clock in/out using a MobileClock (TCP cell phone app)?
A. Yes.
Q. What happens when I completely forget to clock in and then attempt to clock out (for lunch or at the end of the day)?
A. The system will automatically alert you of attempting to go into a state that you’re currently on (in this example, from clocked out to clocked out). The system will then prompt you to submit a missed punch request which your supervisor will see on his/her dashboard. You will be required to add a note along with the time in which you should’ve clocked in. Missed punches training videos are coming soon.
Q. How do I log into the WebClock or MobileClock?
A. Please see info under WebClock Log In Guide and/or MobileClock Log In Guide.
Q. Am I required to use the TimeClock Plus App on my phone?
A. No. Using a mobile device is simply an option and up to your leadership’s discretion.
Your Questions Answered
The following questions were gathered via our Pilot Group.
Q. How do I request Leave (vacation, personal, sick, bereavement, etc)?
A. From your TimeClock Plus Dashboard, go to Requests > + Add. A window titled “Add Employee Request” will pop out. Fill out and hit “Save”. See Employee Training Video for further details and for a demonstration.
Q. Can I request leave for a prior date that falls within an already closed pay period?
A. Yes
Q. How can I request leave for a prior date that falls within the current pay period?
A. Please email your supervisor; supervisors will manually enter the request. If HR has already closed that pay period and payroll has already been processed, the respective compensation will be payed on the following payroll.
Q. I’m an hourly employee who sometimes runs errands off campus often before coming on-site or right before heading home for the day. I sometimes also work from home. How do I go about accounting for this time when I clock in/out?
A. Clock in and clock out whenever you actually arrive or leave the office. Email your supervisor to let him/her know to correct your time as needed based on your time running errands or working from home.
Q. How much time is automatically taken out for lunch if I do not clock out to leave for lunch?
A. There are only two groups of employees whose lunch is automatically taken out: Physical Plant & Dining. If you don’t belong to this team, no time will be automatically taken out for your lunch. You must clock out for lunch.
