The University of Lynchburg is accepting applications for a part-time Security Officer. This position offers benefits. The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, an understanding of a residential or college/university environment; have solid communication proficiencies and comprehensive writing skills. Responsibilities include protecting and securing assigned areas of campus, buildings, outlying properties and the enforcement of current policy regulations of the University of Lynchburg and all applicable local/state/federal laws in order to maintain a peaceful and orderly academic/residential environment. Must be able to work some weekends. One year prior police/security or military experience is strongly desired, but an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience will be considered. Virginia DCJS Campus Security Officer (CSO) certification will be required within 180 days of employment. CPR/AED/FR or EMT certifications are also desirable. A valid state driver’s license is required. The selected candidate must successfully pass a fingerprint based background check before full time employment can begin.
