The University of Lynchburg, a private regional university, located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia is seeking a part-time administrative assistant for the departments of art and theatre in the School of Visual and Performing Arts (August 15-May 31).
Specific job duties:
- This position provides administrative support to art and theatre faculty and students while handling inquiries and visits from the public and overseeing the Box Office, as needed. In addition to being proficient in the use of computers (Mac and PC), standard office equipment, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media platforms, candidates must have administrative assistant experience, independent decision-making abilities, and strong organizational and communication skills.
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to: working with students, staff, faculty, and the department chairs; working with Box Office software; processing funds and lab fees; maintain calendar of events and create programs and posters; ordering equipment, supplies, and marketing materials; room use management; coordinate event schedules and liaise with catering, security, and physical plant; budget oversight; make travel arrangements for faculty and guest artists; assist with arts shows; and completing other related tasks assigned by supervisors.

Physical demands:
- The functions of this position are usually performed sitting, but may involve significant amounts of walking or standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting or carrying may be required.
Preferred/required qualifications:
- Must be committed to accurate work, and possess the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong English, communication as well as accounting skills conducive to monitoring and preparing statistical reports. College degree or an equivalent combination of education and administrative experience preferred. Candidate must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University.
