The University of Lynchburg is seeking a full-time non-exempt access control officer. The selected individual must be willing to work flex hours and be on call for after-hour emergency calls.
The individual must be able to work under limited supervision, perform installation, maintenance, repair, and alteration of locks, cores and keys and the electronic card access systems for campus buildings and structures. Must maintain the highest level of security, access and safety on campus in accordance with building codes and standard security procedures.
Must be at least 25 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent education that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of this position. Be a U.S citizen or legal resident and successfully pass a fingerprint based criminal history background check.
Four years experience in law enforcement, military or other security fields of work. Must also possess the necessary skills to perform all the required tasks.
Required Licensure, Certification, Registration, or Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- VA DCJS Locksmith Certification (Must be obtained within 180 days of employment)
- VA DCJS Campus Security Officer Certification (Must be obtained within 180 days of employment)
The individual shall also provide and assist in the immediate protection and security of students, faculty, staff, in various campus buildings and/or property within the college community by enforcing the policies and procedures set by the college and state and local laws as directed by the director of campus safety and security.
