“This lecture will appeal to just about everyone — students, staff, business owners, and anyone who manages or is managed by someone,” Dr. Nancy Hubbard, dean of Lynchburg’s College of Business said. “He especially concentrates on education, the medical profession, and business.”
Llopis is president and CEO of the Glenn Llopis Group and the author of four books, including his most recent, “Unleashing Individuality: the leadership skill that unlocks all others.”
He graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles and shortly thereafter became the youngest executive in the 100-year history of Sunkist Juice Beverages. Llopis then went on to American Seafoods Company, where he was a 30-year-old senior executive, before launching his first business, Luna Rossa Gourmet Foods, in 1997.
Ten years later, he founded the consulting firm Glenn Llopis Group, or GLLG. According to the company website, his goal was to “focus his work on leadership and business development around the ‘immigrant perspective.’”
As part of GLLG, Llopis, a Cuban American, launched the Center for Hispanic Leadership, which aims to create “competitive advantages for Fortune 500 companies through their development and advancement of top Hispanic talent.”
Llopis also writes for Forbes, Harvard Business Review, Entrepreneur magazine, and Huffington Post. He has been recognized as a “top-20 influential writer” by Forbes and a “top-10 leadership speaker and business thinker” by Inc. Magazine.
“I have known Glenn for a few years and have seen him speak repeatedly,” Hubbard said. “He is an amazing speaker. He provokes listeners to think about important topics. Personally, I find his thought leadership in the realm of personalization to be the future, certainly of higher education.
“I guarantee that anyone attending the talk will come away thinking about the topic for days, if not longer. I find myself referring back to things Glenn has said all the time during my daily business activities.”
