Richard Szymczyk ’11, who has a bachelor’s degree in health promotion from the University of Lynchburg, recently received the Rising Stars of Safety Award, presented by the National Safety Council.
Szymczyk is a paramedic and the workforce health and safety manager with LifeCare Medical Transports, based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He started his career at LifeCare in 2014.
The award, according to a press release, “recognizes individuals who are up-and-coming safety professionals in their area of expertise. Those awarded this prestigious national honor have shown enthusiasm, skills, and leadership in creating and implementing safety programs to ensure the safety of their colleagues.”
LifeCare President and CEO Kevin Dillard also praised Szymczyk, saying, “[He] has grown the safety culture, not only here in our corporate offices, but companywide. His passion for providing the best training for our employees, so that our patients receive quality patient care, has been a tremendous asset to both us and our patients.”
