The 2019 college rankings by US News & World Report highlight the University of Lynchburg for providing an excellent education at a great value.
Lynchburg rose to number 32 in the Regional Universities-South category, according to the rankings published today. The University also claimed number 26 on the Best Value list for Southern universities and 22 on Best Colleges for Veterans.
“The University of Lynchburg gives students an experiential, life-changing education that prepares them for lifelong learning and careers,” University President Dr. Kenneth R. Garren said. “Those who are most familiar with us see the impact we have on students’ lives every day. It is no surprise that US News & World Report would recognize this excellence, too.”
The rankings are based on institutional data and survey responses collected in the spring of 2018. The data touches on a variety of factors related to academic excellence and provides a standard way to examine a university’s reputation, performance, and value.
Placing 32 for Regional Universities-South indicates a rise from the 38th spot in the 2018 rankings, while the Best Colleges for Veterans placement reflects a commitment to put education within reach for veterans and their family members.
At number 26 on the Best Value list, the University holds the second-highest position of all schools in Virginia. This reflects a commitment to financial aid, with 100 percent of students receiving financial aid, including 78 percent who receive need-based aid.
“Our placement in the US News rankings demonstrates our tradition of excellence and our ongoing work to improve the Lynchburg student experience,” Dr. Sally Selden, provost and vice president for academic affairs, said. “Vision 2020, our strategic plan, focuses on giving students the engaged learning experiences and campus resources they need to reach their personal and professional goals.”
