University of Lynchburg is ranked No. 12 in “Best-Run Colleges,” according to the 2019 edition of The Princeton Review’s college guide, The Best 384 Colleges. Lynchburg was one of only two Virginia institutions on the “Best-Run” list.
The Princeton Review, an education services company, selects institutions for The Best 384 Colleges based on data from the institution and students’ responses to surveys. The “Best-Run” ranking was based on student feedback about the school being run smoothly. Lynchburg also was listed among The Princeton Review’s “Best Southeastern” colleges.
Student responses about the University describe an “academic environment [that] is the perfect level of challenge and excitement,” and a caring community where peers are “willing to help you out when needed.” One student told The Princeton Review that the University helps students become “the best version of ourselves.” Students also sang the praises of the City of Lynchburg and ranked the University well for descriptions such as “Students are happy,” “Internships are widely available,” and “Great financial aid.”
“I was so excited to hear that The Princeton Review has, once again, named University of Lynchburg among the best colleges and universities in the U.S.,” Lynchburg President Dr. Kenneth Garren, said. “That our students also consider Lynchburg one of the ‘best-run colleges’ in the country is further evidence that our staff and faculty are working hard to create the best possible experience for our students.”
Nat Marshall, chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, also was pleased with the rankings. “It is great to be recognized by The Princeton Review,” Marshall said. “The results are not by accident, as we have an exceptional president who has assembled an exceptional team. We will strive to be even better, studying what we have done in the past so we can be intentional in what we do for the future.”
The Best 384 Colleges rankings are based on surveys of 138,000 students at 384 top colleges that include a wide representation by region, size, selectivity, and character. Published annually since 1992, the book has detailed profiles of the colleges with rating scores in eight categories, as well as ranking lists of the top-20 schools in 62 categories.
