Helpful Tools for Transfer Students

Below are tools to help Virginia Community College (VCCS) students determine how their credits will transfer or which classes they should take at a community college in order to transfer to Lynchburg College. Recommended Courses for Transfer Students

Lynchburg College students are required to complete general education requirements, major requirements, and enough minor and/or elective requirements to reach a minimum of 124 credit hours to graduate from the College. A maximum of 76 hours may be transferred to Lynchburg College. Fifty percent of the major requirements and 50 percent of the minor requirements must be completed at the College, and students must complete their senior year at LC.

The following is a list of courses that must be taken as part of the general education requirements and will be useful to you in your academic preparation.

Foreign Language - 3 hours (through the Intermediate level)
Western or World History - 6 hours
Laboratory Science - 8 hours
Literature - 3 hours
Mathematics - 3 hours
Oral Communication - 3 hours
Philosophy - 3 hours
Religious Studies - 3 hours
Social Science - 6 hours
Wellness - 2 hours
Senior Symposium - 2 hours


** Students who earn qualifying associates degrees from a Virginia community college will be guaranteed admission and will have these general education requirements waived with the exception of foreign language and Senior Symposium.
