Four Hornets Dot All-State Men’s Lacrosse Team

ASHLAND, VA – Four Hornets were recognized recently with the release of the 2007 Virginia College Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division Men’s Lacrosse Team. Roanoke College’s Jon Mason and Bill Pilat were named as the VaSID State Player and Coach of the Year, respectively.

Three Lynchburg players earned first-team accolades: Ryan Cranston (West Chester, PA/Henderson), Brandon Fell (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) and Tyler Tolson (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield). All were honored two weeks ago as All-Americans – Cranston on the second team, Fell on the third and Tolson as an honorable mention. The three also received first-team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference honors.

Cranston, a junior midfielder, was second on the squad with 31 goals and 50 points (19 assists). Fell, a senior, anchored a Lynchburg backline that allowed just 7.88 goals per game and scooped 36 ground balls. Tolson, a sophomore attack, was second in the ODAC with 57 goals and third with 61 points. Junior Stephen Weis (St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers) was named to the second-team all-state squad. He tied for second on the team with 50 points and led the Hornets with 28 assists.
