The Rev. Ronald T. Davidson, a 1973 graduate of Lynchburg College, has received a 2007 Virginia Conference for Community and Justice Humanitarian Award. The award recognizes a commitment to the promotion of respect and understanding among people of diverse racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.

Davidson is president and founder of Gleaning for the World Inc., a nonprofit agency in Concord, Va., which provides supplies, equipment, food, and clothing to faith-based ministries that help the impoverished and victims of disaster.

Davidson, who holds a master of divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary, started his gleaning ministry in 1999. Author of several publications, he has been recognized for his service as police chaplain in Fairfax County, by the American Cancer Society for producing a cancer prevention manual, and by the Concord Ruritan Club for service to the fire and rescue departments.
