Dan Wooldridge '56 Press Box Dedicated
September 2008: Family and friends of Dan Wooldridge '56, along with LC staff and administrators, gathered on September 10 for the dedication of the new facility at Fox Field. The press box, made possible through gifts from numerous donors in honor of Dan, provides a well-appointed space for members of the press to cover all the action. Click here for event photos.

Thompson Education Building Expansion Announced
April 2008: Funds are now being raised for the expansion of the Thompson Building. An additional 5,000 square feet of classroom space, enhanced technology, and improved opportunities for faculty/student interaction are all part of the project, which broke ground recently. Shellenberger Field Wins Design Accolade
March 2008: Lynchburg College's Shellenberger Field received one of six merit awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Virginia. The renovation of Shellenberger, which cost $3.7 million, was part of the College's Centennial Campaign.
Office of External Affairs Updates Database Software
November 2007: The Development and Alumni Offices at Lynchburg College have launched a new software system to manage and enhance constituent relations. During this process, normal gift recording and acknowledgement operations will be temporarily on hold while alumni and donor records are converted to the new system.
Astronomical Observatory Dedicated
October 2007: More than 150 donors and guests attended the dedication of the new Astronomical Observatory at Claytor Nature Study Center. Attendees toured the facility, viewed the night skies through the newly installed equipment, and enjoyed an oyster roast and buffet dinner. The event featured keynote remarks by President Kenneth R. Garren, Dean Julius Sigler, Dr. Neal Sumerlin, Dr. Greg Eaton, and Mr. Roger H. Green, who represented the Lynchburg College Board of Trustees.
Development Office Welcomes LC Alumnus
September 2007: Thomas "Tom" Bentson, LC Class of 2004, has been named assistant director of the Annual Fund. Tom will be leading the Phonathon, Senior Class Campaign, and direct mail programs for the Annual Fund. Since graduating from Lynchburg College with a B.A. in communications, Tom's work experience has included sales and marketing for Public Broadcasting Service and The Performance Institute, both in Arlington, Va.
Annual Fund Reaches Goal
June 30 2007: Thanks to the support of 3,967 donors, the 2006-2007 Annual Fund reached and surpassed its $700,000 goal for the year. A goal of $715,000 has been set for the 2007-2008 academic year.
2007 Shellenberger Golf Tournament Pushes Scholarship Over $300,000
May 2007: The 16th Annual Shellenberger Golf Tournament was a great success, hosting over 120 LC alumni and friends at London Downs Golf Course. More than $4,000 was added to the scholarship fund, which now exceeds $300,000.

May 2007: The Board of Trustees and the Alumni Board of Lynchburg College are proud to announce that every member of both leadership groups has given or pledged to the Annual Fund this year. Unrestricted Annual Fund gifts provide budget relief across campus, including financial aid, academic equipment, athletics, and more.
Centennial Hall Renamed Elliot & Rosel Schewel Hall

May 2007: The Lynchburg College Board of Trustees voted unanimously on February 24 to rename Centennial Hall in honor of Elliot and Rosel Schewel for their ongoing commitment of time, energy, and generosity to the College.
