Travis Wray Qualifies for NCAA Finals in 1,500

OSHKOSH, WI – Lynchburg junior Travis Wray (Newburg, MD/LaPlata) advanced to the 1,500-meter finals Thursday on the first day of competition at the 2007 Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Wray ran a 4:01.64 in his heat to be one of 12 athletes to advance to the finals on Saturday at 1:20 p.m. The top eight finishers earn All-American status.

Another Hornet will have to wait an extra day to compete. Senior pole vaulter Andy Rollins (Ooltewah, TN/McCallie) had his event pushed back until Friday at 11:30 a.m. due to wind gusts that reached 51 miles an hour at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
