Hornet Softball to Compete at Methodist College in NCAA DIII Tourney

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Lynchburg College softball team will compete later this week in the 2007 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament at Methodist College.

Lynchburg (33-11), the seventh seed at the eight-team Fayetteville regional, will open play second-seeded Marietta College (OH) Thursday at 4 p.m. Both teams will play again Friday, the loser at noon and the winner at 4 p.m.

Lynchburg received an automatic bid to the tournament by winning the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament Championship. Methodist will host eight teams May 10-14 in a double-elimination style format, with the one surviving team advancing into the finals. The finals, consisting of the eight regional winners, is hosted by the City of Salem, VA and ODAC, will be held May 18-22 at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem.
