Six Hornets on All-ODAC Women’s Lax Team

SALEM, VA – Six Lynchburg College student-athletes were honored Friday morning with the release of the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) All-Women’s Lacrosse Team.

Katlyn Scarlett from Roanoke College was named the ODAC Player of the Year, while teammate Brooks Laufman was the Rookie of the Year. Washington & Lee University’s Jan Hathorn earned ODAC Coach of the Year accolades and Torrie Higgins was voted by the conference’s sports information directors as the top scholar-athlete.

Nichole JohnsonSenior defender Nichole Johnson (pictured left - Pasadena, MD/Northeast) earned first-team All-ODAC honors. A second-team all-conference selection in 2006, she led the team with 29 caused turnovers and was second with 59 ground balls.

Junior attack Nichole Locher (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) and freshman Kathryn Ollice (West Chester, PA/West Chester) were honored on the second-team squad. Locher broke single-season school records in 2007 with 36 assists and 83 points, while also netting 47 goals. Ollice was third on the team with 40 goals and 49 points.

Ji-Young Eun (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson), Deana Welsch (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) and Sarah Rahl (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) each receieved an honorable mention to the all-conference squad. Eun, a senior goalie, made 187 saves while playing every minute in net, and Welsch, a sophomore attack, posted 47 goals and 11 assists. Rahl, a senior attack, led the team with four game-winning goals and ended the season with 24 scores.
