For immediate release – 4/26/2007 - #334 SALEM, VA – Two Lynchburg College student-athletes were honored Thursday with the release of the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) golf squad. Hornet sophomore Ryan White (Round Hill, VA/Loudoun Valley) earned second-team honors while Michael Butzgy (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) received an honorable mention to the All-ODAC team. White led the Hornets with a 77.8 stroke average per round and was the individual winner at Bridgewater College’s Tom Kinder Memorial Tournament. Butzgy was second on the team with a 78.6 average and paced the Hornets with a three-day 229 (76.3 average) at the ODAC Championships this weekend. Joseph Poplin from Guilford College was named the Player of the Year, while his teammate Peter Latimer (Freshman of the Year) and his coach, Jack Jensen (Coach of the Year) were also honored. Nathaniel James from Washington & Lee University was voted by the conference’s sports information directors as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Hampden-Sydney College’s Rob Shrader earned the Sportsmanship Award. ### |
