LC Softball Sweeps Guilford

GREENSBORO, NC – The Lynchburg College softball team swept both ends of a doubleheader Wednesday at Guilford College, 9-0 in five innings and 9-2.

The Hornets scored five times in the first frame of the opener, and added four more in the fifth. Tara Campbell (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun Co.) was 2-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs, and Morgan Austin (Mechanicsville, VA/Atlee) also was 2-3 with a home run. Kirstin Swank (Bear, DE/Caravel Academy) was 2-3 and Ali Manns (Weaverville, NC/North Buncombe) threw a complete-game one hit shutout.

Lynchburg started the second game with seven runs in the first frame. Lauren Duguay (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) doubled twice, and Brittany Allsop (Milford, CT/Johnathan Law) and Audra Della Rosa (Rumford, RI/St. Mary Academy Bay View) each had two hits. Barbie Miles (Kinsale, VA/Washington & Lee) threw five innings of five-hit ball for the win.

The Hornets (29-10/14-4 ODAC) travel to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament this weekend in Salem, VA. Brackets will be released shortly by the conference office.
