Hornet Tennis Sweeps So. Virginia 9-0

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men’s and women’s tennis teams each won their final matches of the 2007 regular season, 9-0 against visiting Southern Virginia University.

Freshman Kristian Richardson (Trenton, NJ/The Hun School) paced the LC men with victories at #1 singles and doubles, while David O’Brien (Manassas, VA/Osbourn) won at #2 singles and #2 doubles. Jay Duimstra (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) was victorious at #1 doubles and #3 singles.

Freshman Rachael Ferrara (Skillman, NJ/Notre Dame) won her matches at #1 singles and #3 doubles with Erin Locker (Bernardsville, NJ/Bernards), a winner at #5 singles herself. Krysten Bishop (Big Rapids, MI/Big Rapids), Elizabeth Eckert (Annandale, VA/Annandale) and Bridney Tune (Gladys, VA/William Campbell) each won in singles and doubles competition.

The Hornet women will compete in the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament this weekend at Washington & Lee University, starting at 9 a.m. Friday.
