Nichole LocherLYNCHBURG, VA – Junior attack Nichole Locher (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) scored six times and added three assists Sunday as the Lynchburg College women’s lacrosse team outlasted Frostburg State 19-17 in non-conference play.

Lynchburg led 10-6 late in the first half, but after a 30-minute lightning delay, the Bobcats netted five-straight goals to go ahead 11-10. The contest was back-and-forth until the final five minutes, when three-straight Hornet scores gave LC a 19-15 advantage with 2:35 left.

Kathryn Ollice (West Chester, PA/West Chester) posted four goals with one assist and Deana Welsch (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) scored four times for Lynchburg. Sarah Rahl (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) had two goals and an assist, while Shannon Kennedy (Dumfries, VA/Forest Park) and Shannon Smith (Marshall, VA/Osborn Park) each had a goal and an assist.

Ashley Mattison had five goals for Frostburg (4-5), and Lindsay Lamont and Brittany Brumby each had three scores.

The Hornets (7-7) host Washington & Lee University Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
