VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The Virginia Wesleyan College baseball team defeated Lynchburg College in both ends of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader Saturday, 6-1 and 8-7.

Chris Rivera threw a five-hitter for Virginia Wesleyan in the opener, striking out five Hornets for the win. Eric O’Brien (Roanoke, VA/Cave Spring) was 2-3 and Jon Crews (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) doubled for Lynchburg.

Lynchburg held a 6-3 lead midway through the nightcap, but the Marlins plated five in the bottom of sixth to turn the contest around. O’Brien was 2-2 with three RBI and a double, Justin Kelly (Colonial Heights, VA/Colonial Heights) went 2-4 with a double and two runs scored while Cameron Grant (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) scored three times and Kyle Bradley (Brookneal, VA/William Campbell) scored twice and had two RBI. Matt Hudgins went 3-5 with three RBI for the Marlins (20-14/12-4 ODAC).

The Hornets (18-14/10-6 ODAC) host Christopher Newport University Wednesday at 3 p.m.
