HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – The Lynchburg College baseball team scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to erase a 4-3 deficit and went on to defeat Hampden-Sydney College 8-4 Wednesday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
Senior Justin Kelly (Colonial Heights, VA/Colonial Heights) was 2-3 with a home run and two runs batted in, while Ronnie LaBrie (Vinton, VA/Staunton River) had two hits, a triple and three RBI. Eric O’Brien (Roanoke, VA/Cave Spring) was 2-4 with two RBI and Cameron Grant (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage), Mark Carlson (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) and Kyle Bradley (Brookneal, VA/William Campbell) each had two base hits. Joe Devlin (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run) and Jonathan Nichols (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) combined for 5.1 innings of hitless relief with six strikeouts.
Alan Appling was 2-3 for Hampden-Sydney (16-14/7-4 ODAC).
The Hornets host Eastern Mennonite University Saturday in another ODAC twin bill at noon.
