Game 1 Box Score

Game 2 Box Score

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College softball team split a pair of non-conference games Tuesday at the University of Mary Washington, losing the first contest 1-0 and winning the second game 4-0.

Kirsten Rowell threw a two-hit shutout for the Eagles in game one, striking out eight Hornets while walking none. Mary Washington scored the only run of the game in the fourth inning after three singles and a hit batsman with the bases loaded to score the run. Senior Ali Manns (Weaverville, NC/North Buncombe) was the tough-luck loser for LC, allowing six hits and no walks while striking out eight.

Sophomore Barbie Miles (Kinsale, VA/Washington & Lee) threw a complete-game six-hit shutout in the nightcap for Lynchburg with nine strikeouts for the win. Brittany Allsop (Milford, CT/Johnathan Law) had an RBI double in the first frame and the Hornets put the game out of reach with RBI singles from Audra Della Rosa (Rumford, RI/St. Mary Academy Bay View) and Danielle DiFranco (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) in the fourth.

Lynchburg (23-5) travels to Bridgewater College Thursday at 4 p.m. to finish a rain-shortened doubleheader from late March.
