Hornet Tennis Loses Close Matches

LYNCHBURG, VA & RALEIGH, NC – The Lynchburg College men’s and women’s tennis teams each lost close matches Monday.

The LC men dropped a 5-4 decision to Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Eastern Mennonite University. Junior Jay Duimstra (Toms River, NJ/Toms River) won his match at #3 singles 6-2, 6-2 and teamed with Kristian Richardson (Tronton, NJ/The Hun School) to defeat the Royals at #2 doubles 8-3. Daniel Civis (Forest, VA/Holy Cross) was also won both of his matches, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 at #4 singles and 8-4 at #1 doubles with David O’Brien (Manassas, VA/Osbourn).

The Hornet women’s team was defeated 6-3 at Peace College (NC). Freshman Elizabeth Eckert (Annandale, VA/Annandale) won at #3 singles 6-1, 6-0, while Erin Locker (Bernardsville, NJ/Bernards) earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #6. The #2 doubles team of Whitney Robinson (Mechanicsville, VA/Lee-Davis) and Bridney Tune (Gladys, VA/William Campbell) won 8-4.

The women host Randolph-Macon Woman’s College Tuesday at 4 p.m., and both teams host Randolph-Macon College Thursday at 2 p.m.
