LC Softball Sweeps Virginia Wesleyan

LYNCHBURG, VA – The 15th-ranked Lynchburg College softball team swept visiting Virginia Wesleyan College Sunday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader.

Lynchburg won the first game 5-1 behind a four-hit, one walk complete game performance from senior pitcher Ali Manns (Weaverville, NC/North Buncombe). Senior Dara Sandifer (Monroe, VA/Holy Cross) hit a three-run home run in the second frame, and Caroline Cubbage (Bridgewater, VA/Turner Ashby) was 2-3 with two RBI. Bree Strain hit a solo home run for Va. Wesleyan.

Senior Larissa Roscher (Centreville, VA/Westfield) struck out 12 Marlins in the nightcap to lead the Hornets to another 5-1 win. The right-hander scattered three hits and five walks, but allowed no earned runs. Tara Campbell (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County) hit a two-run single for LC and Brittany Allsop (Milford, CT/Johnathan Law) had two hits. Virginia Wesleyan falls to 8-19 overall and 5-7 in the ODAC with the losses.

Lynchburg (22-4/9-1 ODAC) heads to the University of Mary Washington Tuesday for a non-conference twin bill at 3 p.m.
