HARRISONBURG, VA – The 20th-ranked Lynchburg College softball team swept Eastern Mennonite University Sunday 2-0 and 11-8 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader.

Senior Ali Manns (Weaverville, NC/North Buncombe) threw a one-hit shutout in the opener, striking out four and walking just two. Kirstin Swank (Bear, ME/Caravel Academy) lashed a two-run single in the top of the seventh to break a scoreless tie and give LC the win. Brittany Allsop (Milford, CT/Johnathan Law) went 3-4 and Natasha Viafora was the tough-luck loser for the Royals, allowing six hits while striking out nine.

Lynchburg rallied from a 3-2 deficit after four innings in game two by scoring nine times over the last three frames. Morgan Austin (Mechanicsville, VA/Atlee) had a three-run home run, and Danielle DiFranco (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) was 3-5 with two runs scored. Caroline Cubbage (Bridgewater, VA/Turner Ashby) reached base safely in each of her five plate appearances with a double and four walks, and Elizabeth Perkins (Kents Store, VA/Fluvanna County), Swank and Dara Sandifer (Monroe, VA/Holy Cross) each had two hits. Anna Coleman was 3-4 with three RBI for EMU (11-9/3-5 ODAC).

Lynchburg (18-4/5-1 ODAC) travels to Bridgewater College for another ODAC double-dip at 3 p.m.
