Hornet Women’s Lacrosse Falls 15-14 at Va. Wesleyan

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The Virginia Wesleyan College women’s lacrosse team held on Saturday for a 15-14 win over Lynchburg College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.

The contest was tied at seven at halftime and the Marlins scored three-straight times late in the game to take a 15-12 lead. LC scored twice in the closing minutes, the last with 1:02 on the clock, but time ran out on the Hornet offense.

Junior attack Nichole Locher (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) scored four times for Lynchburg and Kathryn Ollice (West Chester, PA/West Chester) posted three goals and two assists. Sarah Rahl (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) and Shannon Kennedy (Dumfries, VA/Forest Park) each netted two goals.

Jullian Boyd scored five times for the Marlins (4-4/3-0 ODAC) and Bethany Adomanis netted four scores. LC out-shot VWC 35-29 and won 18 of the game’s 31 draw controls.

Lynchburg (4-4/2-1 ODAC) returns to action Tuesday evening with a 7 p.m. ODAC contest against Hollins University on LC’s Shellenberger Field.
