For immediate release – 3/24/2007 - #258 #4 LC Men’s Lax Defeats #12 Villa Julie 13-10 STEVENSON, MD – The fourth-ranked Lynchburg College men’s lacrosse team defeated #12 Villa Julie College Saturday 13-10 in an important non-conference match-up. The Hornets opened up a 6-1 edge after one period of play, but the Mustangs dominated the second quarter to take a 7-6 advantage into intermission. The game was tied at nine all entering the fourth quarter, but Lynchburg scored four-straight times, three from freshman attack Austin Jeter (Coppell, TX/Episcopal), to put the game away. Jeter finished with a career-high five goals, while Kyle McGuire (Burke, VA/Robinson) had a goal and three assists. Tyler Tolson (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) had two scores and an assist, Stephen Weis (St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers) had a goal and three assists and Michael Mundorf (Catonsville, MD/Mt. Saint Joseph) had a goal and an assist. Garrett Curran (Hull, MA/Tabor Academy) made 13 saves in net. Villa Julie (6-2) was led by Jimmy Dailey with four goals and Chris Baldwin with two goals and two assists. The Mustangs out shot the Hornets 53-38 and controlled 19 of the game’s 26 face-offs. The Hornets (7-0) host Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Roanoke College Saturday at 7 p.m. under the lights of Shellenberger Field. ### |
