Tyler Tolson Scores Five as LC Breezes 13-4 past Wooster

LYNCHBURG, VA – Sophomore Tyler Tolson (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) scored five times to lead the sixth-ranked Lynchburg College men’s lacrosse team to a 13-4 win over the College of Wooster Wednesday evening.

Tolson scored the game’s first goal four minutes in, but the Fighting Scots answered back at the 8:27 mark. The Hornets would rattle off seven-straight goals to take a commanding 8-1 lead early in the third quarter.

Junior Stephen Weis (St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers) delivered three goals and two assists and Ryan Cranston (West Chester, PA/Henderson) scored twice. Johnny Black (Timonium, MD/St. Paul’s) and Kyle McGuire (Burke, VA/Robinson) each posted a goal and two assists while Garrett Curran (Hull, MA/Tabor Academy) made seven saves and allowed just two goals in 45 minutes in net.

Mark Weschler had a goal and an assist for Wooster (3-1). The Hornets out shot the Fighting Scots 43-24, but Wooster won 11 of the game’s 21 face-offs.

Lynchburg (4-0) hosts Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday at 2 p.m. in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game.
