Hornet Softball at Salisbury Tourney

SALISBURY, MD – The Lynchburg College softball team won two contests Friday on the first day of the two-day Salisbury University Invitational Tournament.

The Hornets defeated Kings College (PA) 8-1 in the first game of the day. Senior Larissa Roscher (Centreville, VA/Westfield) threw a complete-game three-hitter to earn the win, striking out seven. Caroline Cubbage (Bridgewater, VA/Turner Ashby) was 3-4 with two RBI while Morgan Austin (Mechanicsville, VA/Atlee) blasted a two-run home run.

LC cruised to an 11-2 five-inning win over Virginia Wesleyan College (non-conference game) in the second contest. Cubbage was 2-2 with two doubles, three runs and two walks, Elizabeth Perkins (Kents Store, VA/Fluvanna County) went 2-3 with three RBI and two runs and Tara Campbell (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County) was 2-4 with a home run and two RBI. Senior Ali Manns (Weaverville, NC/North Buncombe) worked the full five innings, allowing just three hits and one walk.

Lynchburg (10-2) will play Saturday at noon and 2 p.m. against opponents to be determined.
