Hornet Softball Splits Twinbill against Salisbury

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The Lynchburg College softball team split a non-conference doubleheader against Salisbury University Sunday, losing the first game 6-4, but rallying to win game two 10-2 in six innings in contests played at Virginia Wesleyan College.

Lynchburg led 4-3 in the seventh inning of the opener, but the Sea Gulls scored three times in the final inning to record the win. Caroline Cubbage (Bridgewater, VA/Turner Ashby) was 2-3 with a three-run homer and Brittany Allsop (Milford, CT/Johnathan Law) had two hits and scored twice for LC.

Larissa Roscher (Centreville, VA/Westfield) earned the win in game two, allowing just two hits in 4.1 innings. Elizabeth Perkins (Kents Store, VA/Fluvanna County) went 3-3 on her birthday, lifting two home runs with three runs and three RBI. Morgan Austin (Mechanicsville, VA/Atlee) was 2-3 with a double and two RBI, and Amber James (Manahawkin, NJ/South Regional) and Kirstin Swank (Bear, DE/Caravel Academy) each homered.

The Hornets (8-2) will compete in the Salisbury Tournament next weekend.
