For immediate release – 2/27/2007 - #207 GREENSBORO, NC – Sophomore attack Deana Welsch (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) scored five goals Tuesday to lead the Lynchburg College women’s lacrosse team to a come-from-behind 16-13 victory over Guilford College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest. Guilford led 7-6 at halftime and opened a 10-8 advantage with 19 minutes left in the second half. The Hornets struck with seven-straight goals over the next nine minutes, two each from Welsch, Sarah Rahl (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) and Kathryn Ollice (West Chester, PA/West Chester), to take a commanding 15-10 lead. Ollice netted three goals, and senior midfielder Gina Davis (Aberdeen, MD/Edgewood) posted two goals and two assists. Nichole Locher (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) had two goals and an assist while Shannon Kennedy (Dumfries, VA/Forest Park) had two tallies. Mary Hutchins posted four goals and three assists for Guilford (0-1/0-1 ODAC). Allison Brown had three goals and Caryn Washington scored twice. Lynchburg out shot the Quakers 35-32 and each team made 12 saves. Lynchburg (1-0/1-0 ODAC) travels to Averett University for non-conference action Thursday at 4 p.m. ### |
