W&L Women Win 80-64 over Lynchburg College

LEXINGTON, VA – The Washington & Lee University women’s basketball team defeated Lynchburg College Saturday 80-64 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest.

The Generals led 35-31 at halftime and were ahead by as many as 11 in the second half before Lynchburg chipped away and trailed just 61-58 with 6:31 left. W&L finished the contest by scoring 19 of the last 25 points, seven from the free-throw line.

Senior center Caroline Wesley (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame) posted a team-high 18 points with 10 rebounds, while freshman forward Brittany Dahn (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) tallied 12 points and a game-high 13 boards. Amy Terry (Dublin, VA/Pulaski County) had 12 points and Tamara Snead (Richmond, VA/Henrico) tallied eight points and six rebounds.

Kristen Krouchick scored 19 points with seven caroms for W&L (15-10/11-9 ODAC). Jessica Hunsinger had 17 points and nine rebounds while Hayley James ended with 16 points and 10 boards.

The Hornets (7-18/7-13 ODAC) finish the 2006-07 regular season at 7-18 and 7-13 in the conference. Lynchburg will enter next week’s ODAC Championship Tournament as the #8 seed, and will face defending champion Randolph-Macon College, the top seed, in the opening round on Friday. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, VA.
