Directions to Lynchburg College

How to Find Us in Lynchburg:

Rt. 29 from the North:

  • At Gainesville, Virginia, follow Route 29 South toward Lynchburg (approximately 125 miles). 
  • In Amherst, Virginia, follow Route 29 South Business/Madison Heights through the town of Madison Heights.  After approximately 7-8 miles, you will pass Lowe’s Home Improvement store on the right.
  • Follow 29 South/Danville toward Lynchburg.  You will see signs that indicate Lynchburg exits are the next 10 exits.  From this point, do NOT take any that say 29 South Business. 
  • As you cross the James River, 29 South also becomes  the Lynchburg Expressway.
  • From this point follow 29 South until you see a sign for 501 North (approximately 4 miles).  Follow 501 North to the first stop light (again, you will travel 4 miles).   At this intersection of Route 221 and 501 North, turn right at the traffic light on 221 North/Lakeside Drive and proceed 2 miles.
  • The campus entrance will be on your right immediately past College Lake.

Rt. 29 from the South:

  • Follow Route 29 North to Lynchburg.  After you pass the Lynchburg Airport (on your left) , continue on 29 North Business. (Do not take 29 North/Charlottesville exit.) Go straight on Route 29 North until you pass the River Ridge Mall entrance on your right.
  • Take the second right exit ramp to Route 501 North and proceed approximately 4 miles to Route 221.
  • At the first intersection (marked by a traffic light) Routes 221 and 501 intersect; turn right onto 221 North (Lakeside Drive) and proceed 2 miles.
  • The campus entrance will be on your right immediately past College Lake.
Route 460 from the EAST and the WEST

  • Exit off Route 460 at Candlers Mountain Road.
  • Follow signs to Route 501 North (River Ridge Mall will be on your left, and Wachovia Bank will be on your right).
  • Take the right exit ramp to 501 North.  Follow 501 North about 4 miles.
  • At the first intersection (marked by a traffic light) Routes 221 and 501 intersect; turn right onto 221 North (Lakeside Drive) and proceed 2 miles.
  • The campus entrance will be on your right immediately past College Lake.
