GREENSBORO, NC – The Lynchburg College baseball team scored three times in the top of the 11th inning to outlast Greensboro College Sunday 8-5 in non-conference play.
LC trailed 5-3 entering the top of the ninth frame, but a two-run single from junior Jon Crews (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) knotted the score at five. In the 11th inning, one Hornet run scored on a wild pitch, Crews singled to plate a second Hornet and a sacrifice fly scored another insurance run. Sophomore right-hander D.W. Moore (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) worked six and two thirds of scoreless relief for the win, allowing six hits and striking out five.
Freshman Jeff Taylor (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) was 2-3 with two runs scored, Ronnie LaBrie (Vinton, VA/Staunton River) smacked a two-run triple and Jeff Gaines (Lynchburg, VA/Jefferson Forest) had an RBI double.
Pat Burgess and Jess Maloney each had two hits for the Pride (4-4).
The Hornets (2-1) travel to Averett University for a single game Tuesday at 2 p.m.
