NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The Lynchburg College indoor track and field teams traveled across the state Saturday to enter the Christopher Newport University Vince Brown Invitational.
Ricky Flynn ran a personal-best of 8:44.82 in the 3,000 meters, while Scott Decker (Clifton, VA/Robison) and Anthony Pavia (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest) cleared 15’4" and 14’6" in the pole vault, respectively. Earl Graves (Richmond, VA/Hermitage) ran a 50.77 in the 400-meter dash.
Senior Sarah Funderburke (Fredericksburg, VA/Courtland) finished second in the Division III Championship final of the 55-meter dash in 7.58. Mary Mohay (Fairfax, VA/Robinson) placed second in the pole vault, clearing 11 feet and Heather Jones (Manassas, VA/Osbourn Park) had a heave of 41’1 3/4" in the weight throw. Ashley Armistead (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest) ran a 5:35.30 in the mile and Amanda Diver (Boxford, MA/Masconomet) finished the 800 in 2:30.69.
Lynchburg travels to Virginia Tech next Saturday.
