Lynchburg College junior Ryan Holmes (Glenn Allen, VA/JR Tucker) was recently named the Division III Indoor Track & Field South/Southeast Region Male Athlete of the Year. Hornet mentor Dr. Jack Toms, Athletic Director, earned the South/Southeast Region Men’s Coach of the Year, his 24th national award.

Both individuals received their awards at the NCAA Awards banquet Thursday night prior to the beginning of the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by St. Olaf College.

Holmes earned All-American honors Saturday, March 11, at the 2006 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by St. Olaf College. Ryan placed seventh in the triple jump to earn the first All-American accolades of his career. He leaped 46’2.5" in the finals, as Tony Gregory of Cabrini College won the event with a best jump of 47’11.25".
